Things to Do in the Washington, D.C. Area with Children!

Tips for getting the most out of your outing with the 6 and under crowd:
Tip #1
: One rule of thumb that helped one adult manage 3 kids ages 6 and under was not to invite anyone else, so we're on our own timetable and the kids pay attention to the sites not other kids. Rides on the Metro, extra stops to go potty, etc., make it hard to meet someone "on time" and tardiness creates stress for the grown up!
Tip #2: When touring art museums, take the elevator alone, and allow the kids to jump and scream while the doors are closed, then put on museum manners upon exit!
Tip #3: Bring popcorn to eat and throw to the pigeons while the kids run off energy on the mall in between museum visits.
